Fear is something we all understand

Fear is something we all understand

and have felt many times, possibly even daily. And sometimes fear is valuable. It is good to be wary around snakes and spiders. It is good to stay away from the edge of the cliff. And it is good to check out those spots on your skin.

But FEAR is something else.

It is the emotion that has your heart beating faster and your skin feeling clammy when you are asked to give a talk. It often has you saying no even when it is something you want to do. You notice those spots on your skin, or the pain in your teeth and don’t make the appointment to get it fixed. It stops you in your business when you want to do a Facebook live. It stops you from taking the holiday you want to take because you worry about going alone. You worry about getting lost. You worry about safety.

Fear stops you from doing things that you want to do.

There is a famous book called “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway” I dislike that book as it wants you to push through all the physical sensations of fear and keep going. That is really hard to do and is not good for your physical or emotional well-being.

I have a different plan.

It is called EFT – which stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. This might sound like some mystical secret society for conquering fear, but fear not, my friends, because I’m here to show you how this incredible technique can help you kick those fears to the curb in a fun and empowering way! EFT is like that undercover superhero you never knew you had. It’s a simple yet profoundly effective technique that combines the principles of ancient Chinese acupressure with modern psychology. By tapping on specific meridian points on your body while focusing on the fear that’s got you quaking in your boots, you start to send those fear signals packing. It’s like hitting the reset button on your brain’s fear centre.

How can you use it to release fear?

Start by imagining your fear as a mischievous gremlin that’s causing chaos in your mind. You know it’s there, but it’s lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce at any moment. With EFT, you bring that fear into the spotlight. You give it a name, a face, and a voice. You acknowledge its presence, and that’s the first step to overcoming it. I like to start with writing. Write down what is your fear. eg: I don’t want to stand up and talk to a group. Write down all the things that you fear. People will laugh at me, I will forget what to say, I will mess up, I will die!! Now the fun begins. Using the chart below (or you can download a printable copy HERE), tap through the points saying the things that you wrote down earlier. Keep talking and tapping. These statements help you address the fear head-on. The tapping process is like a tango with your fear, and it gets the energy flowing.

It’s All About the Meridians

EFT isn’t just random tapping; it’s tapping with a purpose! The meridian points you tap on are like little energy highways in your body. By tapping on them, you release blockages and free up the energy flow. It’s like opening the floodgates of courage, washing away your fears like leaves in a stream. Fear is a stress response in the body and has triggered the flight and fight response system. By using tapping you can calm down this response, put out the fire and allow your body to relax. When you are relaxed your natural abilities come forward and you will be able to do the things you want to do with ease. Instead of cowering in fear, you’re able to stand tall and face it head-on.

The transformation

EFT doesn’t just make your fear disappear into thin air. It helps you confront it, feel it, and then let it go. You’re not avoiding your fear; you’re experiencing it in a safe and controlled way. After a round of tapping, you’ll often find that your fear has lost its grip on you. It’s like it’s been deflated, leaving you feeling lighter and more in control. You start to see your fear for what it is: a paper tiger, a mirage in the desert, a blustering wind that can’t knock you down. Keep tapping until you no longer feel the fear. It might take a few rounds, and it is worth checking in with yourself to see if the fear has changed to another feeling. Write down the new thoughts and keep tapping.

Freedom from Fear

EFT is a key that unlocks the door to your fearless self. It empowers you to take charge of your emotions, face your fears, and let them go. It’s like you’ve been granted a superpower, and now you can handle whatever life throws at you with confidence and courage. EFT is your secret weapon, your trusty sidekick, your partner in crime fighting against fear. It turns fear-busting into a fun and empowering adventure. With EFT, you’re not just conquering your fears; you’re transforming into a superhero of your own making. What have you been wanting to do but fear has stopped you? So go out there, tap away those fears, and unleash the fearless you!

If you would like to do this with me, book in HERE for a single session and we can tap those fears away.
